CLIPPARD FOR ALBALADEJO

The Washington Nationals acquired pitcher Tyler Clippard from the New York Yankees for pitcher Jonathan Albaladejo.

What does it give the Washington Nationals
This deal makes sense for all parties concerned. The 22-year-old Clippard should get an immediate opportunity to crack Washington's leaky rotation, which is something that wasn't going to happen in the Bronx. He has pretty good potential, which is all the Nationals can ask for at this point.

What does it give the New York Yankees
Unlike Clippard, Albaladejo is a reliever by trade. Therefore, he serves more of a need for the Yankees at this time, since they're knee-deep in young starting pitcher candidates. Look for Albaladejo, a 25-year-old right-hander from Puerto Rico, to be in the mix for one of the final bullpen spots on the Yankees this spring.
