PONDEXTER TO MEMPHIS

The Memphis Grizzlies acquired guard Quincy Pondexter from the New Orleans Hornets for point guard Greivis Vasquez.

What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
Pondexter is a quality depth player with solid upside and the ability to play several positions well. Pondexter impressed during the shortened preseason and has some shooting range, along with enough size to play regularly as a swingman for the Grizz. With rotation regular big man Darrell Arthur down for the season (to an Achilles injury), the Grizzlies bolster their depth off the bench here in Pondexter.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
The Hornets have a lot of question marks at the point after trading Chris Paul to the Clippers, and in Vasquez they get a solid depth playmaker who shows grit, passion, and clutch ability. He should become a regular coming off the bench behind Jarrett Jack, and while Vasquez is a bit slow-footed he does give New Orleans some matchup options thanks to his good size, passing, and shooting.
