SIXERS SNAP UP CENTER PASECNIKS WITH PICK FROM MAGIC
The Philadelphia 76ers acquired a 1st-round draft pick in 2017 (No. 25 overall, center Anzejs Pasecniks) from the Orlando Magic for a conditional 1st-round draft pick in 2020 and a 2nd-round draft pick in 2020.
What does it give the Orlando Magic
Orlando has done a nice job in this draft (landing possibly future star big man Jonathan Isaacs early in Round 1) so it's understandable for them to not want to pay two guaranteed rookie contracts. The draft picks they get in return are an impressive pair of assets, so this is a nice get for new Magic GM John Hammond.
What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
It's getting hard not to love the Sixers and their recent draft moves. After trading up to get potential superstar point guard Markelle Fultz (the No. 1 pick overall), now they add a potential future starter at center in Pasecniks. The lanky, talented Latvian has future starting center written all over him, and getting one of those late in any first round is never easy. General Manager Bryan Colangelo continues to look like a mastermind.
Fantasy impact
Pasecniks probably won't be ready to be a big-minute contributor for another season or two, but he does have the tools to eventually be a starter. Don't look for him to have much fantasy relevance in the coming campaign, but do keep an eye on his development with the exciting young Sixers.
