WARRIORS JUMP INTO DRAFT TO GET JORDAN BELL

The Golden State Warriors acquired a 2nd-round draft pick in 2017 (No. 38 overall, power forward / center Jordan Bell) from the Chicago Bulls for cash.

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
Golden State does a fantastic job here of adding a high-upside young prospect, despite the fact they didn't have any picks heading into the Draft. Bell has a lot of holes in his game and will need significant development time, but he also has first-round raw talent and athleticism. The Warriors are a team with so much established veteran talent, they can afford to wait on Bell's improvement--making him a perfect selection in Round 2 for Golden State.

What does it give the Chicago Bulls
Chicago traded away Jimmy Butler in this draft, so the Bulls are suddenly flush with young but unproven players. With that in mind they don't need another one right now by way of a second round pick, so it makes sense to move the selection in return for cash.

Fantasy impact
Don't expect to see Bell contribute much as a rookie with the stacked defending champions, but do keep him in the back of your mind for keeper-type leagues and for the future. Bell has star-level athleticism and a pretty good overall approach to the game, so a few years from now he might be an NBA starter.
