ROCKETS GET FORWARD KELLY FOR CASH

The Houston Rockets acquired combo forward Ryan Kelly from the Atlanta Hawks for cash.

What does it give the Houston Rockets
Houston certainly has a lot of roster space after moving half the team to the Clippers in the Chris Paul trade, but that doesn't guarantee Kelly will still be on the team later this summer. His contract might be included in another deal, so keep an eye on the Rockets' transactions page as they build on their new core.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks help the Rockets fill out the roster here by moving a non-core player in Kelly, and get some cash in the bargain. Atlanta appears to be in rebuild mode at this point, so the only obvious here is that Kelly isn't an immediate part of those plans.

Fantasy impact
Even if Kelly is still on the roster after this sure-to-be-even-busier off-season, he isn't likely to have much fantasy value until he lands on a team with regular minutes for him. That wasn't the case with Atlanta, and it almost surely won't be the case anytime soon with Houston.
