PORTLAND HELPS HOUSTON KEEP DEALING, MOVES QUARTERMAN

The Houston Rockets acquired combo guard Tim Quarterman from the Portland Trail Blazers for cash.

What does it give the Houston Rockets
This is the fourth trade for a single contract the Rockets have done in one day, and only one of those contracts seems sure to stay on the books this summer (Chris Paul's). Quarterman's--like those of Shawn Long from the 76ers and Ryan Kelly from the Hawks--appear to be part of a bigger picture in Houston's dramatic roster reconstruction, and that picture might involve all three getting moved later this summer. It's still not certain if (or to which other team/s) that might happen.

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Quarterman barely played last season as an NBA rookie, so the Blazers clearly saw an opportunity to move his contract and save some money. With two new rookies guaranteed to be on the Blazers in the upcoming season (first-rounders Zach Collins and Caleb Swanigan), the roster was getting crowded.

Fantasy impact
Even if Quarterman somehow manages to stay with the Rockets for the coming season, it would be shocking at this stage in his career for him to see fantasy-relevant minutes on a title contender.
