ADDING LIGGINS' CONTRACT HELPS HOUSTON DO PAUL DEAL
The Houston Rockets acquired swingman DeAndre Liggins from the Dallas Mavericks for cash.
What does it give the Houston Rockets
Later in the day the Rockets flipped Liggins--along with six other players--to the L.A. Clippers to land point guard Chris Paul. Clearly Liggins' contract was needed to make the salary numbers of the deal even out on both sides.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs didn't employ Liggins as a big-minute guy in the past season so they move on here and save some money for more summer maneuvers by dealing him to Houston (which in turn, as mentioned, sends him to L.A.).
Fantasy impact
There's no fantasy impact with the Liggins deal for either the Rockets or Mavericks, since he played sparingly last season (despite starting 19 games) and didn't produce fantasy-worthy stats, and he doesn't look likely to play a lot in the coming season either.
