ROCKETS ADD YET ANOTHER NON-GUARANTEED CONTRACT (UTHOFF'S)

The Houston Rockets acquired combo forward Jarrod Uthoff from the Dallas Mavericks for cash.

What does it give the Houston Rockets
Uthoff has a non-guaranteed contract, and that gives the Rockets added financial flexibility for more moves this off-season. Houston GM Daryl Morey has been loading up on non-guaranteed contracts this week, so it's anything but a sure thing that Uthoff will still be on the roster come training camp. If he somehow is, the Rockets get an athletic, versatile '3-and-D' combo forward with intriguing upside.

What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
Mavs management has now made two recent deals with the Rockets (the other sending DeAndre Liggins to Houston), and again gets cash in return. Clearly Dallas is clearing up roster space for the impending free agent season, and the cash helps with new contracts.

Fantasy impact
As with Houston's several other recent deals to pick up non-guaranteed contracts for cash, it's probably unwise to speculate on the fantasy values of the players involved before the Rockets roster shakes out this off-season. That said, Uthoff is an underrated talent so he should nonetheless be considered a deep sleeper if he winds up in the right situation.
