CLIPS GET GALLINARI IN 3-TEAM TRADE

In a 3-team trade, the Los Angeles Clippers acquired combo forward Danilo Gallinari from the Denver Nuggets. The Atlanta Hawks acquired a 1st-round draft pick in 2018, center Diamond Stone, swingman Jamal Crawford, and cash from the Los Angeles Clippers. The Denver Nuggets acquired a 2nd-round draft pick in 2019 from the Atlanta Hawks.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
This is a sign-and-trade deal for the Clippers, who get the star small forward in his prime they've wanted and needed for awhile now. Despite the loss of leader and superstar point guard Chris Paul, the Clips might be able to stay very competitive thanks to this move (plus the return of star big man Blake Griffin and other off-season acquisitions). Gallinari is a top-tier scorer and playmaker who can help boost L.A.'s offense right away. By doing the sign-and-trade, the Clippers can both ink Gallo for the amount of money he wants while clearing cap space by moving Crawford and Stone.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks help the Clippers acquire Gallinari here, and get some nice assets in return for taking on the contracts of Crawford and Stone. Crawford has already been waived by Atlanta and has signed on with Minnesota. Meanwhile Stone is an intriguing and talented center prospect who one day might push for starter minutes in Atlanta, and the 2018 first-rounder will help as well.

What does it give the Denver Nuggets
Denver was going to lose The Rooster to free agency regardless of what happened, so they at least recoup some value by getting the second-round pick in 2019 from Atlanta. All they had to do was technically sign Gallinari to a deal for more money than the Clippers were allowed to pay him, then trade that deal to L.A.

Fantasy impact
Despite a lot of moving parts to this deal, there likely isn't any major change in fantasy fortunes. Gallinari should stay pretty much as productive as ever with the Clips, while Crawford will have similar (if consistently declining) value as a sixth man for Minnesota as he did for the Clippers. The one potential big winner here is Stone, who might see a big bump up in minutes for the rebuilding Hawks.
