HEAT BRINGS BACK PERIMETER SCORER BABBITT
The Miami Heat acquired forward Luke Babbitt from the Atlanta Hawks for forward Okaro White.
What does it give the Miami Heat
Babbitt was a fairly regular starter for Miami last season (before joining Atlanta for this season), so he has an intimiate understanding of the Heat's playbook and approach. He's not a major difference-maker, but he's an underrated scorer who can provide perimeter-shooting punch and frontcourt depth for a team hoping to make the playoffs.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
White has already been waived by Atlanta, so for the Hawks this trade is clearly about opening up a roster spot for their ongoing rebuild. Babbitt provided his usual solid veteran forward depth this season, but for the stretch run Atlanta's focus moves back to its ongoing rebuild.
Fantasy impact
Babbit's value probably jumps a little with this move, if only because he'll probably play more with Miami than he did with Atlanta. That said, don't expect big fantasy numbers even if he somehow finds himself starting again (with the exception of the occasional nice 3-point shooting performance).
