PELICANS PICK UP VAUGHN FROM BROOKLYN FOR CUNNINGHAM

The Brooklyn Nets acquired forward Dante Cunningham from the New Orleans Pelicans for guard/forward Rashad Vaughn.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
Brooklyn already has several talented young guards and wings on the roster, so Vaughn--who was recently acquired from Milwaukee--was expendable. The larger and more defensively-versatile Cunningham gives the Nets some needed frontcourt depth down the stretch, and if he doesn't pan out then Brooklyn can move on quickly and easily (since his inexpensive contract expires this summer).

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
Vaughn is a talented player who hasn't lived up to expectations so far in his NBA career, so the Pelicans are obviously taking a flier here to see if they can get a steal. The New Orleans backcourt doesn't have a lot of depth and Vaughn's contract expires after this season, so this is a low-risk move by the Pelicans.

Fantasy impact
Neither of Cunningham nor Vaughn looks set for a major role with his new team, so there's no significant fantasy impact as a result of this trade.
