SIXERS SWAP FOR WILSON CHANDLER

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired combo forward Wilson Chandler, a 2nd-round draft pick in 2021, and a conditional 2nd-round draft pick in 2022 from the Denver Nuggets for a conditional 2nd-round draft pick in 2022 and cash.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
In Chandler, the youthful 76ers add a veteran presence and an all-round solid combo forward who will probably come off the bench in Philadelphia. He can defend several different positions impressively, score fairly well, and even start at small or power forward if needed. Philly also received a second rounder in '21 in this deal, and they can swap seconds with Denver the following year if they so choose.

What does it give the Denver Nuggets
For the Nuggets this deal is all about creating salary cap space by moving out Chandler's contract. It enables the team to bring back swingman Will Barton, who was an unrestricted free agent. Barton will probably slide into Chandler's starting small forward role.

Fantasy impact
Chandler will probably lose a chunk of fantasy value if he comes off the bench in Philadelphia, while Barton figures to see more minutes in Denver now that Chandler is gone. The dark horse here is Nuggets' first-round draft pick Michael Porter Jr., who might see more minutes next season than previously expected now that Chandler no longer around. For Philly, Chandler's arrival likely limits the contributions of rookie Zhaire Smith.
