GRIZZLIES MOVE JARELL MARTIN TO MAGIC

The Orlando Magic acquired combo forward Jarell Martin and cash from the Memphis Grizzlies for power forward / center Dakari Johnson and the draft rights to shooting guard Tyler Harvey.

What does it give the Orlando Magic
Very quietly, the Magic is assembling one of the NBA's most promising frontcourt corps--and Martin is just the latest part of that. He is one of the more underrated young depth power forwards in the game, and he should be in the mix for regular minutes in the coming season along with Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac, Mo Bamba, and Nikola Vucevic. The cash helps pay for Martin's salary, which is a tick higher than Johnson's.

What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
Johnson is more of a low-post bruiser than Martin, so perhaps the Grizzlies figure he will be a better fit for their style of play. As for Harvey, it's unclear whether he'll join the Grizzlies in the coming season (since he's unsigned, and most recently played in Europe).

Fantasy impact
Martin has a good chance to produce stats for the Magic similar to the ones he did last season for the Grizzlies. That makes him a fringe fantasy add for weeks when he gets hot, but otherwise he is not yet a draft-worthy player. Johnson will probably struggle to see regular minutes in Memphis, but considering the Grizzlies' recent injury history he might actually be a factor in 2018-19.
