MAVS MOVE MOTLEY TO CLIPS
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired center / power forward Johnathan Motley and the draft rights to shooting guard Renaldas Seibutis from the Dallas Mavericks for the draft rights to combo forward Maarty Leunen, and cash.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
For now, this deal looks like a minor salary dump by the suddenly-competitive Mavs. Longer-term, Leunen is 32 years old and currently plays for Sidigas Avellino in Italy. That combination of facts suggests he isn't likely to play in the NBA. Then again, at least Leunen is roughly a year younger than Seibutis and has already played in the US (in college)--so there might be slightly more chance of him joining an NBA team than Seibutis.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
This is an intriguing depth move by L.A. Last season as a rookie, Motley was one of the best players in the NBA G-League (where he made that circuit's All-Star squad and averaged 22.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game). He has the talent to eventually be a very solid rotation player in the NBA, so this might be a steal for the Clippers. As for Seibutis, it will be surprising if he ever appears in the NBA (since he's now 33 years old and playing in Europe).
Fantasy impact
The only player in the deal who might eventually be fantasy-relevant is Motley, and it probably won't be this season. Even if he finds himself playing for the Clippers in 2018-19, it will likely be as an end-of-the-bench backup big man.
