WESLEY JOHNSON JUMPS TO THE PELICANS
The New Orleans Pelicans acquired forward/guard Wesley Johnson from the Los Angeles Clippers for center Alexis Ajinca.
What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans needed help at the small forward position (where E'Twaun Moore is expected to start this season), so the addition of Johnson here makes a lot of sense. The latter may even challenge the former for playing time (and the starting gig) throughout 2018-19.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
This trade was a complete salary dump by the Clippers, as Ajinca was waived immediately following the completion of this deal. Without Johnson in the fold, Los Angeles will need to find a new backup small forward for Italian veteran Danilo Gallinari.

Johnson's fantasy stock should remain steady after this trade, with the possibility of a spike if he bests Moore for the starting gig at small forward in New Orleans.
