76ERS MOVE FOR MALACHI RICHARDSON

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired guard Malachi RIchardson, forward Emir Preldzic and a second-round draft pick in 2022 from the Toronto Raptors for cash considerations.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers recently dealt away guard Landry Shamet in the blockbuster trade to acquire power forward Tobias Harris, so there were looking to add another guard to replace Shamet. Richardson may get an opportunity to play in Philadelphia, but he must first get healthy (he has been battling a knee issue). Philly also gets a second rounder from Toronto in this deal. Preldzic is not likely to ever play in the NBA.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
It is interesting that two Eastern Conference rivals like Toronto and Philadelphia would agree to help one another out here. Toronto was looking to shed salary and a roster spot (possibly to add a big piece before the trade deadline?), so they added a second rounder and the rights to Preldzic to Richardson. All they will receive in return is cash, but perhaps this is all part of Raptors President Masai Ujiri's plan. Stay tuned!

Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Richardson was merely acquired for depth purposes. He is not likely to see enough minutes to become a fantasy factor in Philadelphia.
