IGUODALA GONE FROM GOLDEN STATE
The Memphis Grizzlies acquired guard/forward Andre Iguodala, a protected first-round draft pick in 2024 and cash from the Golden State Warriors for forward Julian Washburn.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
In the 35-year-old Iguodala, the Grizzlies land an awesome mentor for the team's burgeoning young talent. The three-time NBA champion is expected to play an important role in Memphis, although he could be traded to a contender at some point in 2019-20. The Grizz also get a protected first in '24 and some cash to pay for Iguodala's salary this season.
What does it give the Golden State Warriors
It is the end of an era for the Warriors, who are losing a few of their championship players this off-season. Iguodala was moved out to help reshape the roster with younger players. However, his leadership and stellar play off the bench will be sorely missed. As for Washburn, he is expected to be waived by Golden State. He might be headed back to Memphis.
Fantasy impact
Iguodala's fantasy value is not very high these days, so he should be avoided in most league drafts. "Iggy" could become a bench option in some deeper leagues at some point in 2019-20. Washburn holds no value at the moment.
