JUSTIN PATTON PICKED UP BY DALLAS
The Dallas Mavericks acquired center Justin Patton and cash considerations from the Oklahoma City Thunder for forward Isaiah Roby.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
This move by the Mavs, who are expected to waive Patton, was done in order to free up a roster spot. The loss of center Dwight Powell for the rest of the season necessitated change. Dallas also gets a little bit of cash from the Thunder in exchange for a player (Roby) not in the rotation.
What does it give the Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder dealt Patton for Roby and saved a little bit of money in the deal. Roby is 21 years old and may have a bit more upside than the 22-year-old Patton (and is probably more versatile than Patton, who is mostly a one-position player and was stuck behind Steven Adams and Nerlens Noel).
Fantasy impact
There is no fantasy impact here, as Patton will likely be on the open market soon and Roby is not expected to receive much playing time with the Thunder for the rest of 2019-20.
