DEDMON FOR SNELL

The Detroit Pistons acquired center Dewayne Dedmon from the Atlanta Hawks for forward/guard Tony Snell and guard Khyri Thomas.

What does it give the Detroit Pistons
The Pistons acquired Tony Bradley from Utah on draft day, and now add veteran Dedmon to its stable of centers. Dedmon could wind up competing with Bradley for the starting gig, although Detroit might still have a chance to retain free agent big man Christian Wood. All of this is bad news for Thon Maker, who made 60 appearances (14 starts) for the Pistons in '19-20. Dedmon will mostly provide veteran leadership for Detroit.

What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
Like Dedmon, Snell is a veteran leader type. The latter will probably come off the bench as a backup wing for the up-and-coming Hawks. Thomas is basically a throw-in here, as he is mostly going to provide depth outside of the team's player rotation in 2020-21. Atlanta no longer needed Dedmon with Clint Capela, Bruno Fernando, Damian Jones and 2020 first-rounder Onyeka Okongwu all capable of playing a large role at the five spot.

Fantasy impact
There is little fantasy impact with this trade. Dedmon and Snell are likely to be rotation players with their new respective clubs, while Thomas is a deep bench guy. None of these three should be drafted in most formats.
