JERAMI GRANT GOES TO DETROIT

The Detroit Pistons acquired forward Jerami Grant and guard Nikola Radicevic from the Denver Nuggets for cash.

What does it give the Detroit Pistons
In Grant, the Pistons get a very good energy forward who can do a little bit of everything. He mostly came off the bench in Denver, though towards the tail end of his tenure there he supplanted veteran Paul Millsap as the starting power forward. In Detroit, he figures to play more and will likely start opposite Blake Griffin at small forward. Grant has a chance to be one of the better off-season acquisitions of 2020.

What does it give the Denver Nuggets
Once it became obvious that the Nuggets could not re-sign Grant, they did their best to cut their losses. They included Radicevic in the deal mostly likely because the Serbian point guard is unlikely to bolt for the NBA anytime soon. Denver was able to get cash back for essentially losing Grant in free agency. How the Nuggets replace Grant could determine their status as Western Conference contenders.

Fantasy impact
Grant's fantasy stock could rise with more playing time in Detroit. That said, the Pistons are likely to remain Griffin's team. After Griffin, however, everything is now up in the air after Detroit made several acquisitions in the off-season. Grant could emerge as the team's No. 2 scoring option. Draft him with confidence.
