KNICKS ADD AUSTIN RIVERS
The New York Knicks acquired guard/forward Austin Rivers, guard Sergio Llull, and forwards Tadija Dragicevic and Axel Hervelle from the Houston Rockets for guard Issuf Sanon.
What does it give the New York Knicks
In Rivers, the Knicks land a veteran guard capable of playing either backcourt position. He has also played small forward in a small-ball setting with the Rockets, so veteran head coach Tom Thibodeau should have plenty of options in how to utilize Rivers this season.
What does it give the Houston Rockets
None of Sanon, Llull, Dragicevic or Hervelle are currently in the NBA, so this trade is mostly incomplete for the Rocket at present time. They were able to dump Rivers' contract but might not get anything in return if Sanon does not move to the big league anytime soon.
Fantasy impact
There is very little fantasy value to speak of here. Rivers might be a late-round consideration in very deep leagues, while the others could be keeper-league stash options. However, none are expected to play in the NBA this season.
