JAZZ DEAL DERRICK FAVORS TO THE THUNDER
The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired center/forward Derrick Favors and a future first-round draft pick from the Utah Jazz for a second-round draft pick in 2027 and cash.
What does it give the Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder have plenty of room to add salary right now, and they were also in dire need of a center. So, they took on Favors' contract and added yet another future first-rounder in the process. Oklahoma City's present outlook is murky but the future looks bright!
What does it give the Utah Jazz
The Jazz needed to shed salary so as to try to re-sign veteran point guard Mike Conley, so Favors was sacrificed. The Jazz also had to surrender a future first, but they at least managed to get back a second-round draft pick in the '27 selection process.
Fantasy impact
There is little fantasy impact here, as Favors may or may not start at center for Oklahoma City in 2021-22. Even if he does, he is unlikely to put up enough numbers to be a viable option (other than possibly in very deep formats).
