MINNY PICKS UP PATRICK BEVERLEY
The Minnesota Timberwolves acquired guard Patrick Beverley from the Memphis Grizzlies for forwards Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez.
What does it give the Minnesota Timberwolves
In Beverley, the T'wolves land a proven veteran defender for their backcourt. He will be responsible for lining up against all of the NBA's top playmaking guards, which will free up the likes of D'Angelo Russell, Anthony Edwards and Malik Beasley to focus more on offense. Beverley should help Minnesota.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
Beverley did not last long in Memphis, after recently coming over from the Clippers in a separate trade. In return, the Grizzlies get a pair of serviceable forwards in Culver and Hernangomez. Memphis still has De'Anthony Melton, Tyus Jones and Rajon Rondo (for now) as backup point guards for superstar Ja Morant.
Fantasy impact
There is no need to draft Beverley in many leagues. Perhaps he becomes an option in very deep fantasy formats. Otherwise, there should be better offensive guards available. Neither Culver nor Hernangomez is a good fantasy option either, since neither is expected to see enough minutes in Memphis.
