UNDERRATED DELFINO TO RAPS

The Toronto Raptors acquired guard Carlos Delfino from Detroit Pistons for 2009 and 2010 second-round draft picks.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
Simply one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Delfino is often compared to countryman Manu Ginobili, but not just because the two are from Argentina. Like Ginobili, Delfino is an athletic circus-shot guy with great scoring range. Also like Ginobili he starred in Europe before coming to the NBA. Delfino has the talent to start for the Raptors, and they are a great fit for him since they already feature other players who starred in Europe (such as Andrea Bargnani, Jose Calderon, Jorge Garbajosa, and Anthony Parker). This deal is a steal for the Raptors, and gives them the scorer they need in return for very little.

What does it give the Detroit Pistons
Future draft picks that are very unlikely to be as good as Delfino. This move may have been more about chemistry than anything for Detroit, as Delfino was unhappy with his limited role in he Piston scheme. The general consensus in Detroit is that the Piston prez Joe Dumars made the move to clear roster room and some salary for younger players. That said, Delfino has as much talent as anyone Detroit is likely to add, so this deal may go down as one to regret for Detroit.
