JOHN COLLINS TO THE JAZZ
The Utah Jazz acquired forward John Collins from the Atlanta Hawks for forward/center Rudy Gay and a future second-round draft pick.
What does it give the Utah Jazz
In Collins, the Jazz add another strong forward to complete their front line. He will probably start alongside center Walker Kessler and forward Lauri Markkanen for a team that is clearly on the rise. This is a fantastic trade for Utah.
What does it give the Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks decided to deal Collins on the cheap, after years of trade rumors. This was mainly done to avoid going over the cap, as well as keep the rest of the team's core intact. Gay will likely come off the bench in Atlanta.
Fantasy impact
Collins could see his offensive numbers increase with the Jazz, so his value is on the way up. Gay's fantasy value will probably remain steady after the trade. That said, he is not a recommendable option for 2023-24.
