GRANT WILLIAMS GOES TO DALLAS

In a three-team trade, the Dallas Mavericks acquired forward Grant Williams from the Boston Celtics, and second-round draft pick in 2025 and a second-round draft pick in 2028 from the San Antonio Spurs; San Antonio acquired forward/guard Reggie Bullock and the right to swap first-round draft picks in 2030 from the Mavericks; and Boston acquired a conditional second-round draft pick in 2024 from the Spurs, and a second-round draft pick in 2025 and a second-round draft pick in 2030 from the Mavericks.

What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
Williams, a restricted free agent, signed a four-year, $53 million contract as part of the deal. He should play a little more in Dallas than he did with the C's, and may have a shot at starting. He is a good addition to the Mavericks, as he is trending upward in terms of his career trajectory.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
In Bullock, the Spurs are adding a solid wing who is likely to become part of the rotation in San Antonio. He will also provide a little veteran presence on a very young squad. The Spurs will also have the opportunity to move up in the 2030 draft should they finish higher up in the standings than Dallas in '29-30.

What does it give the Boston Celtics
For the Celtics, this move is designed to clear room for a potential big move for another superstar (perhaps Damian Lillard or James Harden?). Williams was a solid contributor off the bench, but Boston seems to be going in a different direction. Another move or two is likely.

Fantasy impact
Williams becomes more intriguing from a fantasy perspective after this trade. That said, he is no more than a late-round option in many league formats. As for Bullock, he can be ignored for the most part. In very deep leagues, he might carry some interest as an in-season addition.
