CELTICS TRADE FOR TILLMAN
The Boston Celtics acquired center Xavier Tillman from the Memphis Grizzlies for forward/guard Lamar Stevens, a second-round draft pick in 2027 and a second-round draft pick in 2030.
What does it give the Boston Celtics
Tillman should provide solid backup center minutes for the contending Celtics, who have been using Luke Kornet and Neemias Queta behind Kristaps Porzingis and/or Al Horford this season. He has been out with a sore knee but should be closing in on a return to action.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
For the Grizzlies, this season has been a complete disaster. They were supposed to contend for the top seed in the Western Conference in 2023-24. Instead, they are sellers at the deadline. Stevens is a little-used swingman who could play more on the injury-ravaged Grizz.
Fantasy impact
Neither Tillman nor Stevens is great option in most fantasy leagues at this time. Tillman may not see a lot of minutes in Boston, while Stevens is mostly roster filler in the NBA.
