MAGGETTE TO MILWAUKEE

The Milwaukee Bucks acquired guard/forward Corey Maggette and a second-round draft pick in 2010 (no. 44 overall) from the Golden State Warriors for guard Charlie Bell and center Dan Gadzuric.

What does it give the Milwaukee Bucks
In Maggette the Warriors get one of the NBA's most consistent scorers, a star who can play three positions (small forward, power forward, and shooting guard). With John Salmons expected to opt out of his contract, Maggette guarantees the Bucks will have a high-scoring swingman onboard (although Salmons may be back as well). While Maggette isn't known for his defense or durability, he is highly reliable as a scorer, thanks to his excellence getting to the hoop and drawing fouls. At 30 he's still in his prime and should do wonders to help the field-goal percentage of a Bucks team that averaged .436 from the field last season (2nd-worst in the NBA).

What does it give the Golden State Warriors
While Bell and Gadzuric are not nearly as talented as Maggette, moving Maggette gives Golden State some needed long-term financial flexibility for a mostly young and rebuilding team. Maggette has three years and $31 Million left on his deal (which was limiting the Warriors' rebuilding options) and this move gives them a lot more cap space in both 2011-12 and 2012-13. Bell and Gadzuric are both useful (if streaky) veteran backups, and the Warriors have several other players (including Kelenna Azubuike) who can play small forward.
