DENNIS SCHRODER DEALT TO GOLDEN STATE
The Golden State Warriors acquired guard Dennis Schroder and a second-round draft pick in 2025 from the Brooklyn Nets for guards De'Anthony Melton and Reece Beekman, a second-round draft pick in 2026, a second-round draft pick in 2028 and a second-round draft pick in 2029.
What does it give the Golden State Warriors
In Schroder, the Warriors are adding a quality point guard who is capable of starting or coming off the bench. Expect him to do the latter in Golden State, while also spelling superstar Steph Curry in the starting lineup whenever the latter is injured. Golden State may not be done tweaking its roster this season.
What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
For the Nets, dealing Schroder at this time clearly indicates their intentions for the rest of this season; this is not a team expecting to contend at all in 2024-25. Adding more draft capital is good, and Beekman has some upside as well. Melton was thrown into this trade to balance out the money.
Fantasy impact
Schroder has fantasy value, but the move to Golden State is not ideal for Schroder owners. Playing behind Curry, Schroder might lose minutes with the Warriors. Proceed with caution here. Melton and Beekman are not likely to become rotation staples in Brooklyn, so there is no need to add either player at this time.
