ROCKETS ACQUIRE CAMBY
The Houston Rockets acquired center Marcus Camby from the Portland Trail Blazers for center Hasheem Thabeet, guard Jonny Flynn and a second-round pick in the 2012 draft.
What does it give the Houston Rockets
Houston seems intent on a playoff push and Camby will help them with that. His contract is a bit pricey but it expires after this season, so this is a nice short-term risk for a potentially impressive gain. Camby should be able to come off the bench and provide quality defensive minutes backing up {P Samuel Dalembert}. This move also helps the Rockets move two young players (Flynn and Thabeet) who weren't panning out for them.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
The Blazers have been busy at the deadline, and the additions of Flynn and Thabeet make it clear they're in rebuilding mode. Both are talented prospects who probably needed a change of scenery, and at the very least Flynn gives them insurance in case {P Raymond Felton} keeps struggling, while Thabeet brings a potential depth replacement in case {P Greg Oden}'s knees don't let him get his career back on track. The second-rounder is a nice bonus.
