CLIPPERS DEAL FOR NICK YOUNG
The Los Angeles Clippers acquired swingman Nick Young from the Washington Wizards for forward/center Brian Cook and a future second-round draft pick.
What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
The season-ending injury to {P Chauncey Billups} opened up a need for backcourt depth scoring, so the suddenly-contending Clips do well here to add Young. He's a top-tier scoring swingman when on his game, and he comes at a very affordable price. Moreover, Young's contract expires after this season, so if he doesn't pan out the Clippers can move on. Cook wasn't much of a factor for them and they won't likely miss the 2nd-round pick.
What does it give the Washington Wizards
The Wizards do a solid job here of adding an asset (the pick) for a player they risked losing to free agency. While the loss of Young is a definite talent drain for the Wiz, he recently lost his starting job to {P Jordan Crawford} and is set to hit the open market after this season. Cook won't likely be very helpful (except in the locker room), but his meager contract comes off the books in the summer.
