BLAZERS LAND CAMBY

The Portland Trail Blazers acquired center Marcus Camby from the Los Angeles Clippers for guard Steve Blake, forward Travis Outlaw and cash considerations.

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
When Greg Oden suffered another season-ending knee injury, Portland's rotation faced some tough challenges. With Joel Przybilla also injured the Blazers have had a tough time matching up down low. Camby is still playing well and with an expiring contract should be at the very least a nice rental center for their playoff push. Look for veteran Juwan Howard to head back to a reserve role.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
Outlaw has the goods to be an NBA starter (but has been out much of the season due to a foot injury, and is still sidelined). Meanwhile Blake is an underrated option at the point who can also start. Both have expiring contracts, so if they don't work out in Clipperland, the team can let them go this summer and free up a good amount of cap space for the great upcoming free agent class. Either way this helps the struggling Clips continue their rebuilding project. With that in mind, the move should mean more playing time for promising big men DeAndre Jordan and Craig Smith.
