SPURS LAND JEFFERSON

The San Antonio Spurs acquired forward Richard Jefferson from the Milwaukee Bucks for forwards Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas and center Fabricio Oberto.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
For years the Spurs have depended heavily on their quartet of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Bowen to win. With Ginobili injured for much of last season and Bowen in decline, the team fell from elite status. Enter Jefferson, who takes some pressure off Ginobili in the scoring department and, if Manu is healthy, gives the Spurs a super-foursome once again.

What does it give the Milwaukee Bucks
According to ESPN, a source says the Bucks are looking to save $4.35 Million next season once they release the aged Bowen. That money might help them keep one or both of pending restricted free agents Ramon Sessions and Charlie Villanueva. Meanwhile, the departure of Jefferson opens up more chances for talented young small forward Joe Alexander to play.
