KNICKS, BLAZERS TRADE SIX!

The New York Knicks acquired forward Zach Randolph, guard Dan Dickau, guard Fred Jones and forward Demetris Nichols from the Portland Trail Blazers for forward Channing Frye, and guard Steve Francis.

What does it give the New York Knicks
In Randolph, the Knicks finally have the high-scoring power forward they have been looking for. That said, this may be another case of adding a talented player who just isn't a great fit. Along with starting center Eddy Curry, Randolph will score a lot, but defend very little. The two will also be forced to share the ball, and this more leaves the underrated David Lee out in the cold. Dickau, Jones, and Nichols are effectively spare parts here. More salary, more scoring, and possibly more disappointment for the Knicks.

What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Essentially, the Blazers cleared room and money for more talented players here. Mostly, the Blazers get cap space by moving Randolph. But they also move veteran contracts they don't need in Dickau and Jones, which allows them to keep more promising youngsters at both positions. Picking up Chandler is a nice bonus here, as he can give the Blazers a solid veteran front-liner who still may be an above-average post player.
