BRACKINS IN 4-WAY DEAL

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired power forwards Craig Brackins and Darius Songaila from the New Orleans Hornets for combo guard Willie Green and power forward / center Jason Smith.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers are set to field a small lineup, with Elton Brand at center and Thaddeus Young at power forward. They'll need solid backups with size at both big-man spots, and Songaila and Brackins will provide that. The two newcomers should both be more active than Smith was projected to be, and the drafting of Evan Turner to play shooting guard made Green expendable.

What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
New Orleans has been looking for a backup point guard since trading Darren Collison to Indiana, and Green might be able to help out with that a little. He can play some point guard in a pinch, as can recently-acquired fellow shooting guards Marco Belinelli and D.J. Strawberry. Smith is still a somewhat promising big man prospect who may eventually be a regular, and can fill in at both center and power forward.
