HERMANN TO DETROIT

The Detroit Pistons acquired forward Walter Herrman and center Primoz Brezec from the Charlotte Bobcats for center Nazr Mohammed.

What does it give the Detroit Pistons
In Herrmann and Brezec the Pistons get two talented potential starters with the texpiring contracts. Of course neither is likely to start for the set-in-stone Pistons, but both add the veteran frontcourt depth Detroit was hoping for from Mohammed. Both also may give Detroit added cap space at the end of this season (which Mohammed and his 4-year contract wouldn't have).

What does it give the Charlotte Hornets
Mohammed is an above-average center who just never really found his place in the Pistons' rotation. He has the size and signifitalent to be a regular starting NBA pivot, and may soon become just that for the struggling Bobcats. He is a better option than the super-soft Brezec was, and while he doesn't quite have the star potential of Herrmann, Mohammed fills a need in the paint. The Bobs recently tried to add Cleveland's Anderson Varejao, but the Cavs matched that offer. Charlotte seems to have significant plans for Mohammed, because they're giving up a good amount of cap flexibility here to land him.
