CELTS, NETS EXCHANGE DRAFTEES

The New Jersey Nets acquired the rights to guard Marshon Brooks from the Boston Celtics for the rights to forward JaJuan Johnson and a second-round pick in the 2014 draft.

What does it give the New Jersey Nets
The Nets tried several different options at shooting guard last season with middling success, so Brooks may be able to start for them right away. He's an electric scorer who plays much bigger than his size, and should benefit early on from playing alongside superstar Deron Williams.

What does it give the Boston Celtics
The Celtics are trying to quietly transition to a younger team by stocking their bench with athletic, high-upside prospects. Johnson is a nice addition with that in mind, as he's an explosive big man who should be a more effective defender than Glen 'Big Baby' Davis (who may be on his way out of Boston via free agency). Expect Johnson to be a high-energy role player off the bench at first, and eventually develop into more. A nice pickup for the Celts, who also get a future second-rounder in the deal.
