BOBS LAND DIOP
The Charlotte Bobcats acquired center DeSagana Diop from the Dallas Mavericks for guard Matt Carroll and center Ryan Hollins.
What does it give the Charlotte Hornets
Under new head coach Larry Brown, the young Bobs are forming an identity as a defense-first team. Diop fits in well with that approach, as he is an excellent shot-blocker but remains raw offensively despite seven-plus seasons in the NBA.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
Carroll is an underrated perimeter scorer who may eventually help the Mavs find answers at their wide-open shooting guard spot. Meanwhile Hollins brings some untapped potential and solid mobility to help back up starting center Erick Dampier (replacing Diop), and if he doesn't work out his contract expires after this season.
