SIXERS DEAL FOR PROSPECT MOULTRIE

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired forward-center Arnett Moultrie from the Miami Heat for the 45th pick in the 2012 draft and a future first-round draft pick.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
This is a steal for the Sixers. Not that the Heat intended to keep Moultrie, but he was expected to go far earlier in this year's draft and Moultrie has stellar potential at power forward. His presence helps buffer the potential loss this summer of veteran {P Elton Brand}, and Moultrie has the goods to possibly push for a starting gig in 2012-13. He is also athletic and fast enough to keep up with the Sixers' youth, and he plays enough defense to be a rotation regular. This is a great deal for Philly.

What does it give the Miami Heat
The Heat obviously could have used big Moultrie in their big-man rotation (a major Achilles heel for them) but they clearly have financial considerations with so much star talent, and paying a first-rounder to play on a veteran championship team seemingly doesn't add up for them. They can get a more affordable prospect with the second-rounder, and adding another future pick is a nice bonus for them. Look for them to find an affordable veteran big man in free agency.
