TYSHAWN TAYLOR HEADS TO NETS
The Brooklyn Nets acquired guard Tyshawn Taylor from the Portland Trail Blazers for cash considerations.
What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
On the surface it's obvious Taylor is insurance in case superstar point guard {P Deron Williams} doesn't re-sign with the Nets, but even if Williams returns Taylor is a very good backup. He has starter potential for the NBA game, so all-in-all this is a strong move by the Nets. The proven Taylor may start for Brooklyn if they don't sign Williams.
What does it give the Portland Trail Blazers
Portland had a good draft overall and while keeping Taylor would have looked even better, they obviously have roster limits and a game-plan in place. Getting cash for a second-round draft pick is fairly common business practice in the NBA these days, so this is a just the Blazers shoring up their roster and resources.
