NOVAK NOW A CLIPPER

The Los Angeles Clippers acquired forward Steve Novak from the Houston Rockets for a conditional second-round draft pick in 2011.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
Novak has been used sparingly through two NBA seasons but he's a fantastic three-point shooter. Last season he hit 47.9 per cent from behind the arc, which would have been just below Jason Kapono's league-best figure of 48.3 for 2007-08 had Novak managed enough attempts to qualify for the NBA lead. Novak gives head coach Mike Dunleavy another decent perimeter option deep in the rotation.

What does it give the Houston Rockets
The Rockets are clearly trying to win now with a veteran core, and the still-young Novak became expendable when Houston acquired higher-profile sharpshooter Brent Barry. Moving him clears up a little cap and bench space, and also gives the Rockets the right to swap second-rounders with the Clips in 2011.
