BONZI'S WITH SACRAMENTO

The Sacramento Kings acquired guard Bonzi Wells from the Memphis Grizzlies for guard Bobby Jackson and center Greg Ostertag, who was then traded to the Utah Jazz.

What does it give the Sacramento Kings
A potential star at shooting guard who helps complete their starting five. Wells immediately replaces the departed Cuttino Mobley, and in doing so actually gives the Kings an upgrade at the 2-guard spot. Wells is a big, rangy, versatile swingman who is just coming into his prime. If he can learn to control his temper, Wells is a superb addition to an athletic Kings team that loves to run and gun. With regular playing time in 2001-02 he averaged 17.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for the Portland Trail Blazers, and he should play even more in Sacto.

What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
A high-quality point guard who can step in and make good shots and decisions. Grizz management has been down on Jason Williams (who is on his way out of Memphis) and Jackson is an upgrade. He's no spring chicken at 32, but Jackson is a superb scorer and playmaker who may become a star if he starts. He was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year two seasons ago.
