MAVS GET DOMINIQUE JONES
The Dallas Mavericks acquired the rights to guard Dominique Jones from the Memphis Grizzlies for cash considerations.
What does it give the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavs didn't get to pick until late in the second round, so they technically move up here to add a nice rotation guard in Jones (who has some potential to be an eventual starter). They needed to get bigger and younger in the backcourt, and the versatile Jones gives them both those qualities right away off the bench.
What does it give the Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizz had three draft picks, so roster-wise could afford to move one. They got a couple of other very good prospects for their backcourt in this draft (in Xavier Henry and Greivis Vasquez), and the cash they receive here from the Mavs will help them pay the salaries of both.
