CLIP, SONICS TRADE FORWARDS

The Los Angeles Clippers acquired forward Vladimir Radmanovic from the Seattle SuperSonics for forward Chris Wilcox.

What does it give the Los Angeles Clippers
One of the NBA's best pure shooters for their playoff push. Radmanovic may not stick around in L.A. after this season (since he's due for free agency in the summer), but until then he fills the teamÙs most glaring need: Three-point shooting. The Clips' strength is pounding the ball down low and going hard to the hoop, but they desperately need someone other than Cuttino Mobley to force opposing defenses to stop stacking the key. At just .336 from behind the 3-point arc, they needed a Radmanovic, who is sort of a poor-man's Peja Stojakovic, does have some talent, and should be thrilled to finally be out of Seattle. Expect him to see regular minutes at small forward while Corey Maggette works his way back from injury, then possibly emerge as the Clippers' primary sixth man.

What does it give the Seattle SuperSonics
A bona fide big man prospect who may still become a star. For years the Sonics have been the NBA's proverbial Big Donut (sweet on the outside, hole in the middle) and Wilcox may thrive in their run-first system. He's an elite athlete with legitimate center size, a player who can outrun other pivots and outjump other power forwards. Since being drafted eighth overall in 2002, Wilcox has flashed potential but has come up short in the hard work/consistency department. If he can find a way to motivate himself he may be a steal here, but that's a big if. Regardless, the Sonics still manage to shake up a complacent team and get rid of Radmanovic's expiring contract and questionable attitude. Wilcox should be around at least for next season.
