BULLS TRADE TEAGUE TO NETS FOR 'TOKO'

The Brooklyn Nets acquired point guard Marquis Teague from the Chicago Bulls for swingman Tornike Shengelia.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
A recent trade with New Orleans sent backup point-man {P Tyshawn Taylor} out of Brooklyn, so young Teague takes his place. Teague probably has a little more upside than Taylor did, so this is a nice long-term investment by the Nets (even though it seems unlikely Teague will become a rotation regular for them anytime soon). This deal is just as much about moving Shengelia's salary for some cap relief.

What does it give the Chicago Bulls
The injury-ravaged Bulls bring in an intriguing talent here in Shengelia, a mature player who can score and might be able to provide some immediate depth behind {P Mike Dunleavy} and {P Jimmy Butler} at the swing spots. That said, Shengelia has to step up and prove himself when given the minutes, since he hasn't yet done much at the NBA level. Teague was expendable with the emergence of recent signee {P=1868 D.J. Augustin}.

Fantasy impact
Teague will likely have a tough time breaking into Brookyn's veteran-heavy rotation but he has a lot of talent so is worthwhile keeping on the radar in keeper leagues. Meanwhile in Chicago, Shengelia goes from fringe player to sleeper, since he may see a bump up in minutes on the injury-plagued Bulls. That said, don't count on huge numbers from the Georgian.
