NETS NET THORNTON FOR VETS TERRY, EVANS

The Brooklyn Nets acquired shooting guard Marcus Thornton from the Sacramento Kings for combo guard Jason Terry and forward-center Reggie Evans.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
Thornton can really fill it up as a scorer when he's on a hot streak, and the aging Nets can use a player with that ability; he's similar to Terry in that way, only younger. Brooklyn is still in the East playoff picture (despite their struggles this season) so upgrading their bench scoring with Thornton will help with their postseason push. Terry really dropped off this season, so Thornton is an upgrade.

What does it give the Sacramento Kings
For Sacramento this deal is about freeing up a bit of salary by moving Thornton. Neither Terry nor Evans will likely be a key guy for them going forward, and moving Thornton also lets the Kings see more of what they have in guards {P Jimmer Fredette} and {P Ray McCallum}. Sacto is at the bottom of the West standings, so they're clearly looking for more future financial flexibility here.

Fantasy impact
Thornton's fantasy value probably gets a small boost with his move to Brooklyn, since the Nets' primary shooting guard lately has been {P Shaun Livingston} (who is more of a point guard). It won't be surprising if Thornton steals some starts down the stretch, and at the very least gets more consistent minutes than he was seeing with the Kings. Terry and Evans won't likely see any change in fantasy value, as both are aging vets and the Kings are probably more interested in giving playing time to {P Jimmer Fredette} and {P Ray McCallum}. Fredette and McCallum are now both a little more radar-worthy, but neither projects as a stater anytime soon.
