RAPTORS REEL IN DE COLO FOR DAYE

The Toronto Raptors acquired combo guard Nando De Colo from the San Antonio Spurs for combo forward Austin Daye.

What does it give the Toronto Raptors
This is a minor steal for the Raptors. De Colo has a very underrated game and has the tools to eventually start in the NBA at either point guard or shooting guard. He's still learning, but down the road this could be seen as a heist for Toronto GM Masai Ujiri. Daye didn't develop the way the Raptors were obviously hoping for, so Ujiri does a nice job of moving him here for another young building block.

What does it give the San Antonio Spurs
Over the past few seasons the Spurs have done a nice job of developing players, and they tend to covet multi-position talents such as Daye. Losing De Colo hurts, but the Spurs have a glut of young and promising guards, but not quite as much youthful depth in the frontcourt. Daye still has a lot of untapped upside, so this move could easily end up paying off for San Antonio.

Fantasy impact
Neither De Colo nor Daye looks ready to be a contributor of significant minutes with his new team anytime soon, but both get a jump in long-term / keeper appeal. In 2-3 years, each could be starting for his new squad.
