CAVS CLEAR CAP SPACE FOR KING JAMES, MOVE GEE
The New Orleans Pelicans acquired swingman Alonzo Gee from the Cleveland Cavaliers for a second-round draft pick in 2016.
What does it give the New Orleans Pelicans
Gee has appeal for the Pelicans because his contract is non-guaranteed, meaning New Orleans can save $3 million in cap space if they trade him again or waive him. He doesn't appear to be a fit for the Pelicans' young roster, especially since they're trying to free up money to complete their long-expected trade with Houston for center {R Omer Asik}.
What does it give the Cleveland Cavaliers
With {P LeBron James} deciding to return to Cleveland, the Cavs need as much cash and cap space as possible to sign him and add veteran role players around him. Gee didn't look likely to be a fit in Cleveland, especially with James now at small forward and top draft pick {P Andrew Wiggins} also playing on the wing.
Fantasy impact
This deal doesn't have any fantasy impact for either side, as finances are the sole motivator and Gee appears likely to be on the move again in another trade after this one.
