CAVS, CELTS SWAP 10 ASSETS
The Cleveland Cavaliers acquired swingman Keith Bogans, a conditional second-round draft pick in 2015 and a conditional second-round draft pick in 2017 from the Boston Celtics for forwards Dwight Powell, Erik Murphy and Malcolm Thomas, guard John Lucas III, a second-round draft pick in 2016, a second-round draft pick in 2017 and a trade exception.
What does it give the Cleveland Cavaliers
This deal involves plenty of assets, but it's mostly a lot of paperwork in the end. Bogans is a veteran swingman who might be able to crack the Cleveland roster in training camp, but is unlikely to make the rotation of a top contender in the East like the Cavaliers. In fact, he could be waived at some point.
What does it give the Boston Celtics
The Celtics will take a flier on several players in this deal, namely big forwards Powell and Murphy, and they get the trade exception from Cleveland. Otherwise, there isn't much here to get excited about. Thomas and Lucas will also compete for a roster spot in camp, but Boston won't be able to keep everybody.
Fantasy impact
This transaction doesn't come with much fantasy upside to be sure. Perhaps Powell, a 6-10 forward who played at Stanford and was drafted 45th overall in '14, will make his mark in the NBA (but not right away). Bogans won't have much fantasy value even if he sticks with Cleveland.
