SIXERS NET TEAGUE FROM BROOKLYN, FOR WARE

The Philadelphia 76ers acquired point guard Marquis Teague and a 2019 second-round draft pick from the Brooklyn Nets for point guard Casper Ware.

What does it give the Philadelphia 76ers
With {P Michael Carter-Williams} expected out several games to start the season, the Sixers need some point guard depth behind {P Tony Wroten}. Teague is a former first-round draft pick (No. 29 overall in 2012, by Chicago) and has been rumored to be coveted by several NBA teams for awhile now. Look for Teague to see some opportunities backing up Wroten and {P Alexey Shved} early on.

What does it give the Brooklyn Nets
For the Nets, this deal is more about bookkeeping than basketball. They're expected to waive Ware, so they save cash by moving Teague's contract to the 76ers (and also give Philly the future second-rounder as incentive to add the salary). The Nets have {P Deron Williams}, {P Jarrett Jack}, and {P Jorge Gutierrez} at point guard so Teague wasn't likely to crack Brooklyn's lineup this season. Ware should latch on with someone else but won't stay in Brooklyn long.

Fantasy impact
This trade has little fantasy significance, but Teague at least gains more deep sleeper value here since he's joining a Sixers squad that has few proven point producers.
